Swedish ID Card

A Swedish ID card is a physical card that like your resident permit will have your picture, details about you, and your personal number. That’s the one you would need to get Bank ID. You will need to pay 400 SEK per applicant for the card.

How to make the payment?

Make sure you make a payment days before your visit to the tax agency. If payment is made from within Sweden:

Bankgiro: 389-0100 (Swedbank)

OCR: The personal number of the applicant

As you are unlikely to have a bank account to make that payment, you may ask a friend or a colleague to make it for you and mention your personal number in the space for OCR.

If you want to make the payment yourself using your foreign bank account, use the below details:

IBAN (International Bank Account Number) SE55 1200 0000 0128 1012 1613

Swift/BIC: DABASESX

Danske Bank, Norrmalmstorg 1, S-103 92 Stockholm

Note: It might take a couple of days for the payment to be deposited when transferred from a foreign bank.

What happens during the appointment?

Go ahead of time for the appointment. Sometimes there are queues outside during a particular time slot. You would need to show the booking slip/message at the entry. Also, use that booking code after entering to get a queue token from the machine inside. There would be several booths and keep a check at the electronic display for your token to be called. They will check your booking, the resident permit/passport you selected while making the appointment, confirmation of payment, take your picture, and measure height and biometrics. You will also have to give your sample signature that will appear on the ID card. After everything is completed, you will get a confirmation receipt. You would need that receipt when the card is ready for pickup from the same office.

It will take a couple of weeks for your ID card to get ready. You will get a notification over SMS and e-mail.

When you get the card, take it to your bank to get a BankID and convert your limited bank account to a full-service one. If you didn’t have a bank account, this card will help you create one.
